Title: Value of Old Dexters
Post by: WelshGirl70 on July 17, 2019, 12:26:57 am
Hi
I’ve been offered an opportunity to purchase some Dexter cattle 2 of which are 10year old females both have had calves in the past. I’ve been asked to make an offer for them. Any idea what they are worth and what’s best to do with them. Local butcher told me the meat is likely to be slow cook only or dog food in his opinion. Any idea what I should offer if at all? Thanks

They’ll have a meat value but it’ll be lowish.  Your local livestock auction will publish sale reports, look at the cull cow price, which will be pence per kilo liveweight.  Maybe 50% of the average for their type?
