HELP,
I bought our smallholding in 2008
I asked for a smallholding no. and got 843/7004 . So i thought thats us sorted.
Only last week did I find out that this no. is for a holding with no land.
The previous owners got land and outbuildings from the local farmer .approx. 0.575 ha
We have 15 hens and ducks no other animals.
I have bought all the equipment to make hay and haylage fromthe land and have been doing so for
several years.
I want to build an Agri building to store my equipment and hay.
I am in the process of trying to get a agricultural holding no.
I have filed in the registration form online and now have to fill in a land maintenance form.
our office for this is Galashiels, we are near Linlithgow.
What are the pitfals of this please

So, just to check I'm reading it right - you have 2 acres of land, but when you applied for your holding number you didn't submit a map outlining the land connected to the holding - so the holding number only covers the house and curtilage? If that's right, you can just add the 'new' land to your existing holding, it should be a simple process.
I think your asking if you have any permitted development rights as its agricultural? My understanding is that because of the relatively small amount of land you have you'll have to go through the normal planning process. You could look at building a 'garage' to the max size allowed without planning permission, and use it for storage when not filled with cars.. ;)

I have recalculated and I have 0.65 hectare.
under 0.5 ha is domestic over is agri if I am reading the scottish land maintenance
form correctly
