Title: New Guy to Forum in Mid Devon
Post by: John140 on June 19, 2019, 03:31:58 pm
Hi All
I have just joined the forum as I am an accidental smallholder !!
I am a country person from west wales originally and have purchased a property with around 3 1/2 acres just to the South of Exmoor in Devon.
The land has in the past been used for horses but the stables is now my log-store and workshop. I have a 2 acres strip of grassland and a very large pond or small lake with a further area of woodland and orchard.
I have been trying to get someone to put some sheep in to keep the grass down as it is too much to mow with the garden tractor so far to no avail.
I am considering getting the grass mulch-cut as I have not been able to find anyone to cut it for hay despite offering it for free !
Done a lot of tree surgery and removed quite a few Oak saplings but still have many nice trees including an Oak that must be 150+ years old.

Welcome John140.  Are your acres well fenced for livestock?

The land is partially fenced and I have agreed to complete the fencing as required for a potential tenant.
