Title: Chicken Illness?
Post by: Alex_ on April 29, 2019, 07:17:27 am
So yesterday my chicken was flapping next to a log. I thought she fell off and was trying to get back up or that she got spooked as she is the most flightiest chicken i have ever had.

I thought she had broken or dislocated her wing because it was drooping and she was walking around rotating her body so her wing was on top flapping. about 10 mins later everything was fine and she was moving like normal and flapped like normal too and still is this morning.

I have added photos to show
Could she have had a fit or something?

Thanks

well I guess she can try that if whatever it is continues to bother her; I saw one of mine do something similar once but it didn't recur and I haven't thought about it again till now. My guess would be something is jarring her feathers in that area, like a stone in the shoe for us. Fingers crossed it isn't something more serious...

We had a similar event with a cockerel that we subsequently discovered had a terrible case of Northern Fowl Mite- it appears a red raw areas on the skin, usually around the vent. Also worth checking for lice.
