Hi Guys
im hoping someone will help
Im concerned about feeding the right amount of food into my pigs , I shall be taking delivery of 5 sows in about a fortnight , the sows are a commercial breed of dutch origin. Im thinking of the following
for the sows ill be using AI
ill start the sows off on 3.5 kilos per day untill about day 80
then untill weaning ill increase that to 5 kilos per day
for the piglets
6 weeks to 3 month 1 kg per day
3months to 4 months 1.5 kg per day
4 months to 5 months 2 kg per day
5 months onwards 2.75 kg per day
could I have some comments on this ?
thank you

Our feeding regime for sows/boars only is:
Sows:
Before AI - Ad lib feeding to increase egg production and assist coming on heat
AI week - 2.5kg
Dry weeks 1 to 7 - 3kg
Dry weeks 8 to 11 - 2.8kg
Dry weeks 12 to 15 - 3kg
Farrowing days/weeks - not farrowed 3kg
farrowed day 1 - 3kg
farrowed day 2 - 3.5kg
farrowed day 3 - 4kg
farrowed day 4 - 4.5kg
farrowed day 5 - 5kg
farrowed day 6 - 5.5kg
farrowed day 7 - 6kg
farrowed day 8 - 6.5kg
farrowed day 9 - 7kg
farrowed day 10 - 8kg
farrowed day 11 - 9kg
farrowed day 12 onwards - 10kg
The increase in food is to help the sows deliver the milk due to the extra pressures on her reserves as the piglets demand more 'food' from her the older they get.
Boars: 2.5kg per day

Thank you for the reply alang
Can you give me an idea on feeding the weaners up to 5 months ?

I'm afraid i can't as we don't keep the piglets past 24 days. The sows are weaned at that point and the piglets are transferred to another farm unit to be brought on to slaughter weight

I managed to find a chart , that covers the growth and the amount of feed to give to the pigs, its not far off my earlier guess .
The piggery is geared up for 12 farrowing cages , one sows pen and a fattening pen for up to 90 pigs ,there is room to expand
thank you for your answer
