How do you treat the soil that tatties with blight have grown in? Some were in those patio planters so should I bin the compost?

I would burn the haulms but I would think that a good hot compost heap would deal with spores in the compost. I don't use compost for my potato rows, so it wouldn't matter for me (I use composted manure from the sheep and hens) In open ground, I just rotate where I grow potatoes and try to remove every last tuber so I don't get volunteers springing up all over the place - but of course I always do. This year I have lots of potato 'fruit'. As I didn't have blight this year I will not have to be too fussy about removing them, but if I had had blight then I think I would do so. In practice, with so many other people also growing vegetables, especially in a town, or in the country near commercial potato growers, there will be spores blowing around all the time anyway. That's a bit fatalistic I know.
