hi
went in yesterday to collect eggs and one looked liked it had been pecked.
on a mission i placed a mustard injected one on the floor ready.......
well i have chickens that love mustards eggs!!!! and they even dragged it outside to eat
hopefully i've not encouraged them........ :chook: :chook: :pig:
any advice

Yupp - they like a bit of mustard, ;D but I have heard they don't like pepper eggs.
The shells are often weak at this time of year, which starts them egg eating. So....
-Make sure they have access to oystershell or limestone grit if they want it, can help with the shells.
-Collect the eggs as often as possible, if you can when you hear them cackle
-Try putting an egg on the floor and see which hen runs towards it, and you have probably found your culprit, so then its up to you what action you take, but you can fit spectacles
-Buy a roll away nest box. They wont lay in them if they have another choice but they can be a help
