Finally.
After 6 yrs of staring at it.
Yes. I did it.
I've been meaning to do it.
Yes. I finally put some filler in that crack....

I'm staying at a door that needs vanishing. Promised the joiner I would do it straight away.... :innocent:

Yup , that seems to be a reasonable time scale

There's a length of not-yet-fitted skirting board propped up in the corner of our living room. It's been there so long that I don't even notice it any more.
However, it's suddenly wearing a tinsel scarf this week. When I asked Mrs Womble why, she said "well I would have done it last year, only there was a massive spider's web between it and the wall, that I didn't want to disturb"........ :innocent:

Lol at Mrs W, like her style. :roflanim:
I have had 8 new doors in my hall for about 8 months. They have a base coat and I have the paint and the brush. "I'll do it over the winter' I told my joiner. I didn't say which winnter, but I'll try to it before I die :eyelashes:
-
Never paint new doors or skirtings... those that do use finish coats of gloss... and thats bad news when it comes to repainting.. all that sanding, keying, two new coats etc. No. Doors and skirtings best done just with some stain - quick to do, if gets really mucky then scrub with sugarsoap and another quick coat.
All part of my lazy approach to house painting.. stained doors contrast nicely with only use white emulsion for walls and ceilings (cheapest option and no cutting in)
-
My lazy tip for interior painted wood-work (if one must paint it at all): use one of those "washable" emulsion paints. It's good for quite a few years!
-
That's what I have ready. :innocent:

I have doors to varnish, I have done about eight, was not happy with the varnish, so two years later I still have six left to do.
Its either too hot, the dogs moulting, its too dusty, or I have run out of time. I really must do it :roflanim:

Plenty of time, mustn’t rush these things

After 29 years of failing to get all the tiles on the bathroom walls we changed the suite and put in a shower. A nice man tiled the walls at the same time.
Anyone want to buy a reasonalble amount of cheap tiles?
-
I saw a funny mug recently that read
"Dear Wife,
If you have asked me to do something, I will do it!
I don't need reminding every 6 months"
;D

I've seen that one. So so true.

My Mum still has one of those, quite possibly bought from your shop Scarlet Dragon. I remember when she was given it - oh how we laughed  . She's still got a ceramic frog somewhere holding a placard that says "please don't smoke, it makes me croak". Another 70s design classic, I'm sure you'll agree :innocent: .

We also have 'a round tuit' S.D. Reminds me of the look of amazement I got when I replaced the broken bathroom wall heater the very next morning- the only job (aside from urgent breakdowns) I've managed to do promptly.
Still have a long list of jobs here that haven't been done- the list was written August last year!
