Title: Cow shaking after calving.
Post by: Faye.Lear on November 20, 2018, 09:58:09 am
Hi all,
Just after some advice, my heifer calved lastnight with no real difficulty. They both seem content in themselves but the heifers rear end shakes when she’s led down.
Is this normal?

Thanks in advance.

Could have trapped a nerve? It would be worth calling the vet to put your mind at rest if anything. If it's milk fever (hypocalcaemia) it can be life threatening though.

It would be nice, when people are good enough to respond with advice and concern, to at least get some feedback on the problem.
I realise it might be upsetting news, but even then good could come out of it. The information might help someone else to identify a similar problem with their own animal, and so ensure a better result. :sunshine:

Hi All,
Sorry I realise this is a long time since my original post.
Both cow and calf were fine without the need for any medical intervention.
Merry Christmas!
