Title: Own a little piece of textile history
Post by: SallyintNorth on September 29, 2018, 11:02:03 am
One of my absolute fave places to visit is Farfield Mill in Sedbergh.  They preserve - and use - historical looms there, have great exhibitions of all sorts of arty and crafty things, have a superb secondhand bookshop of crafty books, many crafty workshops are held there, and up to twenty artisans have studios there where you can see them working and admire and buy what they make.

A few months ago, a call went out to help the struggling Mill convert into a Community Benefit Society so that it could launch a share offer to put itself on a sound financial footing.  I wasn’t the only one sharing and posting like mad, and the mission was successful; the Mill is now a Community Benefit Society.

That was just the first step.

This morning, the share offer has been launched.  Ethex are managing the offer.  If the story of the Mill moves you, you can ‘own’ a little piece of history and help it to grow its educational offer for the benefit of all.

Minimum shareholding is £50.  All shareholders will have one vote, regardless of the size of their holding.

The share offer is here linky (https://www.ethex.org.uk/FarfieldMill)
