Do chooks that have worms lay eggs? My reason for asking is that we get 5 eggs from 6 chooks every day. I have noticed that there is a little loose poo and one bird is lighter in colour and has a smaller and lighter comb.
Is it possible that the other five are laying every day and this one isn't? Or are they taking it in turns to miss a day? It seems a coincidence if this one is laying.......
They are about 30 weeks I guess.
Any help appreciated.

Yep, they should still lay..... or so i'm led to believe.
I have 7 layers just now slightly older than yours & they don't lay every day.... 6/7 for the Calders & 4-5/7 for the Black Rocks.
I'm not sure if there's an explaination for that .
Have you wormed your birds this year or is it about time to reworm them ?
Have a look at their poo, you'll notice the worms if they're there.

I've only had them about six weeks so not wormed them yet. I haven't seen any worms either though so maybe they haven't got 'em??
Thanks for the swift reply :)

you will only see them if they have a bad dose. just as a point of info you can get the odd worm that gets into an egg. its rare but it can do. the one with the paler and smaller comb maybe younger and not laying yet. you won't get an egg a day think of 5 or 6 a week.

birds usually have at least one day off so if you have 6 birds 6 eggs a day os good
