Title: Weight of haylage?
Post by: Penninehillbilly on August 21, 2018, 08:33:32 pm
Hi, not sure where to ask this, please move if appropriate.
We are going to buy quite a bit of haylage in, but getting s few first, borrowing a truck to carry them. Obviously don't want to overload, so does anyone have a rough idea of weight of average large bale haylage,  presuming it was got in dryish. Thanks.

Could be anything between 1/3 tonne and a tonne.  Sorry, that’s not a great deal of help!

I work on the basis of 400kg but they may well be lighter this year.  If you can get any.

a length of string comes to mind , SallyintNorth has it, depends on the moisture content and the density the bale was made at .
My mini round bales could weigh up to 70kg if I made them really dense .
I think its a case of loading and looking at the truck  :innocent:
