I have a problem. I just got my to lovly new pregnant gilts in about a week ago and everything was going fine untill the weekend. I was out ouf town for a day and a half and had my cousin checking on them, she didnt notice anything. But now they are not eating like they were... they had been gulping down about 7-8 lbs of feed a day and now have both dropped down to about 2-3 lbs of feed at most. I am begining to worrie. They dont have a fever and they pop right up everytime I come around and and are still very spritly and happy sounding and looking, just not eating.
To make matters worse the only vet around that will work with livestock, closed his buisiness "for personal reasons" according to his messaging service and did not refer another vet. as his front door hi covered in police tape i have a feeling it was not his choice to close...
Now a couple thing did just happenthe temp has just dropped off in the last couple days very sharply and has been below freezing every night and last week I switched their feed (i blended the new with the old untill the old was gone) but they were eating the new feed before.
Am I getting worked up over nothing ? Is it normal? aggggggggg ??? :pig: ???

How far on in their pregnancies are they? It may be that you just need to split their feed into more mealtimes. The cold shouldn't affect their appetites, if anything they will want to bulk up to keep warm.
Important not to overfeed of course, but little and often may be the answer.
Let us know how it is going.

I ment to repost on here, they are alot farther along than we thought as they gave birth a couple days ago we were told they had about 5-6 weeks to go and poof we had babies the very next week. They are both eating great now and the little ones are doing great.
