Hi all.
Just a quick question as a little concerned.
Whilst feeding my pigs this morning, I noticed that one was wheezing and had a slight cough. This only happened when I walked up to their pen. He is enthusiastic about his food, eyes seem bright and generally he seems ok. Spent a good 45 mins watching him and his behaviour seems normal and no more coughing/wheezing.
They were all wormed when I bought them ( panacur) but wondered if this could be lung worm? They are now 16weeks.
Any advice would be welcomed and I will be keeping an eye on him today.
Many thanks

Hiya,
They generally only need worming every 6 months - so I wouldn't worry about doing that again just yet.
The coughing is most likely down to dust in the straw, they do like to bury right down into it. I wouldn't worry overly much, providing he's eating and drinking, seems bright and alert and his eyes and nose are clear. Just keep a wee eye on him for any changes.

Thanks happyhippy.
Been checking him today and he seems fine...just me being over cautious I expect!
Thanks again :)

Our fields were very dusty and we had a spot of wheezing from one young man who is a bit prone to it anyway. Glad he is well now.
