Title: Autumn Rare & Pure breed poultry sale
Post by: Sharondp on September 05, 2010, 08:54:54 am
Hereford Poultry Market - Rare & Pure Breed Poultry Sale is on Saturday 9th October.

I'm assuming the time is the same as the weekly auction which is:
Doors open 6am
Office opens 8am
All poultry for sale must be in by 9.30am
Sale starts 10am

If anybody is going and fancies meeting up at the bacon butty van, let me know!!

Entry form attached  :)

I may have a look, although I would never buy from there. To many dealers birds and a veritable dumping ground for sad cases.

The last time I went I bought a book...It spent 10 days in quarantine before I read it. ;)

The wednesday sales are a bit like that but the quarterly saturday sales are usually quite good - may see you there

Is the one every Wednesday an auction or a sale, or both? Then the quarterly rare & pure breed is a sale only?

I've been thinking of going to have a look for ages but just not got around to it.

They are both auctions. There is one in Ross-on-Wye which is always very popular on 6th November at the cattle market - again this is an auction.

Thanks for the info Sharondp. At Hereford auction do buyers have to register on the day as a potential buyer or can anyone just make a bid?

You need to register on the day - it's just a form with your name & address to be filled in, then you get a number. You don't have to buy anything though!

I've just found out that entries for the sale are now closed, so I'm too late - although I only had 2 Orpington Cockerels to take. Apparently you need to register in advance for the quarterly sales  but not the wednesday ones  ::)

Anyway - I shall be popping along on Saturday - anyone else?
