Post by: pikilily on August 30, 2010, 08:04:34 pm
Hi, can anyone tell me what to look out for when viewing Scotch Mules....ie the good points and the bad points. i am planning to get three mule ewe lambs this year for breeding in a years time. then next year get another three..

some of my mixed flock have moved on now - i am lookin towards a more 'organised' flock!

Cheers Emma T

you could just get them straight from a breeder. You cant really tell if a ewe lambe will perform well until its had its first 2 crops of lambs so you need to take a chance. If you buy more than you need and cull out the poorer performers in todays market you will get good money for cast ewes and end up with a high performing flock. The important thing is too keep good records so you can remember which ones did best.
