Title: Sweet Itch, Orf, Buttercup toxicity?

Hello everyone,

I have four golden Guernsey goats and one of the nannies has redness on her skin and has lost some fur (see word document attached)

similar occurrence last year and vets thought it was orf, then were unsure, eventually became undecided and thought it was not orf.

from my research online I do not think it is orf.

wondering if any other smallholders can help identify what may be the cause.

Hair follicle mites.  Particularly around nose and lower legs.  Vet can give them a jab for it.

As above, I've used camrosa cream before now , quite effective ( and on leg ulcers too )

Thank you everyone for sharing your thoughts.

I had noticed mites on her so have given a second injection of panomec.

It is beginning to heal which is great.

The vet could not identify what it was and suggested a reaction to something in the grazing they have.

Absolutely - our vets are based in the New Forest and are specialists in horses.

Whenever I meet with them they send a different vet each time, who says they are not knowledgeable about farm livestock.

If anyone has recommendations for a large animal vets in Southampton, Hampshire do let me know.

No excuse really as mites are fairly common in horses and commonly treated with pig oil and sulphur, ivomec. or spot on.
