Took him to vet yesterday to get his wings clipped...
so i could take him outside with me... a wee bit variation to a cage.
Tonight I had him at my door and he took off.. will be roosting in the trees for tonight and hopefully be back for breakfast
What a bloody waste of money that was.
NO money NO parrot and NO bloody sleep no doubt
:'( ??? :-\

Bloody hell Nicki that is awful. What a bugger he is, fingers crossed he is ready to come home in the morning. :)
-
left the cage out under light.. so it has food for when/if he comes back
which of course he will.
-
oh dear! hope he's ok. what is it with all these birds going awol? glad all the others came home safe. what happened with the buzzard?
-
well he escaped today as well....
oh dear thats only 2 maybe 3rd tomorrow!!!!!
But not get very far due to his wing . so gave him a pheasant and SPCA
picked himup earlier. Thought it would be wing or collarbone
But mendable so thats good..
On the plus side he cant get the parrot :D

Did the vet clip BOTH wings? I thought the idea was to clip only one so they are unbalanced and can't then gain any height.

hope there's not a 3rd! good the buzzard gong to be okay. was he eating the pheasant? that would be a good sign. the 2 wee chooks have settled in fine, going to let them into a bigger run on saturday when i'm around to keep an eye on them
-
hey annie, yes both wings are clipped so that he can have controlled flight downwards hee hee
little blighter was out there at 6.15 when went to check the trees
whistling at me but not coming down at present
food will be incentive in about an hour...
-
You are certainly getting the run around with your birds ;) When I was a teenager we had an African Grey parrot and one day that flew off and we never saw it again, it had a fantastic vocablary so no doubt it was heard chatting all over the place and spooking people out ;D Hope yours sees sense and stays at home.

I would just clip one next time - if you catch him

Nicki he is a bad boy!! I think when you get him back you have to pluck the son of a bitch and that will keep him home with his mom!!

Still think you should clip one wing instead of both.
-
Yep, one wing unbalances them so they can't get lift, two, even if they're short they just flap a bit harder and still fly!
I reckon a big fishing net is the order of the day and swipe when he leasts expects it!!! :D
