Hi,
Just wondered if anyone had ever experienced/seen what I have found on my ewe.
She had a c section 3 weeks ago. All healing up well, no problems, eating and drinking and integrated with flock (lost her lambs). However, I went to shear her today and found a mass around the size of 4 tennis balls underneath her belly.
I called the vet out and he injected her, attempted to drain the wound, and said we can only hope it clears up.
I known no one is a vet on here (and I am sure I will be told that!), but I just wondered whether anyone had seen this problem with c section ewes before.
I am rather worried as it is a large mass, and I fear internal stitches may have ruptured, vet couldn't be sure, but thought that she would not be acting the way she is if this was the case.
Any replies would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks!

Why do you think it is related to the c section , this is on her side and you say the mass is on her belly . Sure its an abscess not a hernia ?

Certainly sounds like hernia. Hernias don't necessarily give symptoms until they strangulate. Pugling has a hernia on her side, and so far, so good. :fc:
We do have vets on here, one or more of them may well drop by with an opinion. But internet diagnosing is generally not ideal ;)

There is pus coming from the mass. Does your sheep have puss coming from the lump SallyintNorth.
Plus, is there any coming back from a hernia, or once it strangulates is it downhill from there. I'm hoping its just an infection and the antibiotics will heal it up!

Could you post some picture?

So definitely an ABSCESS not a hernia and a very big one , the AB'S and draining should cure :fc: but why so big in such a place ?

No, no pus from the hernia.
I did not realise the lumps on your ewe were pussy. In which case it does not sound like a hernia.
