Title: making wooden postsout of willow?
Post by: daddymatty82 on August 24, 2010, 09:22:46 pm
the tree that came down i reported in another post i was wondering if i could make posts to save on fencing in future as i was thinking of cutting 6-8ft lengths then the thicker pieces split somehow  can this be done and would it be worth while?

I have found that willow when it dies and left on the ground absorbs water like a big sponge and very quickly becomes mush.. for this reason I doubt it would make a good post, howver the young branches make good wattle hurdles as the bend easily these last for a while
