Title: Medlars
Post by: Rosemary on August 16, 2010, 07:33:56 am
We have a medlar tree in the garden. It's laden with fruit. We understand that we have to let the fruit "blett" ie go rotten before we eat it. Do we do this on the tree or do we pick them and put the on a windowsill?

Anyone have any recipes or can tell us what to do with them?

I can remember my nan storing these along with Christmas Pears until they went soft, but I don't know when they were picked. She used to make jam with them.
Sadly, the tree is long gone.
