One of my ewes has been bleeding from underneath her belly for some weeks. The vet has said it’s a haematoma.
She’s been given antibiotics etc but every few days she bleeds. She’s eating normally, but we’re very worried. We have 5 pet sheep, and this is upsetting. Has anyone experienced this in an ewe please?

I suggest speaking to your vet again. Antibiotics may prevent infection setting in but the haematoma itself probably needs to be drained.

It is also important to know why there is a Haematoma there in the first place - a Haematoma is an indication of significant bleeding, and the fact there is further bleeding suggests the underlying cause is not resolving. I think this needs further investigation by your vet to try to establish the root cause of the problem

Thank you Marches Farmer and Louise Gaunt for your kind advice.
We have had three visits from different vets. At the moment they don’t appear to know the source.
