I have been giving my mother hen greens all the time and the chicks pick away at this and I have had no problems.

personally ours dont get anything but chick crumbs for the first 3-4 weeks (silkies, orps & bramhas) then they have mealworms, and greens

If my chicks are in an incubator, and then a brooder, they don't get extra treats until about a week and a half old, then i start introducing fruits and veggies, i do not give bread until about 3/4 weeks old.

If the chicks are with the mother hen they get greens every day as i cannot easily separate the chicks away, they do not suffer in anyway.

I read that if giving chicks greens then you should start with chives or spring oinion tops as they are full of goodness for them and cut up small are easy to eat.

As soon as they start to show feathers.
Clover is about the best if you can find it.
