Title: Shipping Costs of Supplies - Feedback Requested
Post by: supplies for smallholders on August 12, 2010, 11:39:33 am
Hi,

This is a new thread, as I didn't want to hijack an ongoing thread in the poultyr forum.

I would like feedback from customers, past, present, and hopefully future, on what you would like to see in the way of shipping charges.

Currently we operate a system allowing the customer to select the shipping option (RM 1st Class, Parcelforce 48 & 24 or collect in person).

All shipping calculations are carried out by the packed weight of an item.

With the increasing costs of Royal Mail, as an example, it costs £4.50 to send one bottle of red-mite liquid via royal mail 1st class (packed weight 1.2Kg).

However, we are also on contract with parcelforce, which allows a single package, upto 30Kg in weight to be shipped on a 48 Hour service for £6.50

My question is: As customers would you like to have a fixed rate (£6.50) shipping cost, or would you prefer to still be able to select an option? bearing in mind that the Royal Mail Option for anything over 2Kg will be more expensive than the courier option.

Many Thanks for any feedback given.

I always prefer a choice.
If I'm ordering something I don't need urgently I will always go for 2nd Class if it's available and bearing in mind weight of the order.
If I need something I'll chose the quickest pretty much regardless.

We usually ask for Royal Mail rather than courier for postage as Couriers wait till they have a load before they bring a parcel out here! We can wait up to a week for it to come from Lerwick to us! Royal Mail are quick as they deliver every day :D So cost does not matter to us as we prefer to pay someone who wants to deliver.
