I have two sets of dorset down twins, 3 & 4 days old, that have been out overnight, seem warm and fine but are now wet, so as we have cold wind and snow coming, your thoughts re putting raincoats on wet lambs, they have reasonable shelter but not undercover. Salisbury!

would have thought better if they are dry when you put the jackets on , but if they are not going to dry then no choice , lambs getting plenty of milk plus a bit of shelter can stand a lot weather

Round here , wet West Wales, farmers don't seem to,use the rain coats very often but even when they do the coats are only on for the first couple of days. Do you definitely need coats?

Normally I wouldn’t put coats on but it is forecast cold easterly wind /snow right up across our field and the plastic coats are part of a free pack of lambing kit from our vets, so I might as well use them ! They dried off, so I put the plastic macs on and will take them off as soon as it warms up

They will probably grow out of them quicker than waiting for it to warm up :roflanim: I turned all my lambs out in them this year ranging from 2 days up to 1 week old, they lasted anywhere between 3 days and 10 days before the lambs grew out of them. We have had heavy rain though, the coats have been perfect for keeping the wet off the lambs when they are adjusting to life outside.

I tried them one year and found them all blowing around the field after a few days. Most of the ewes found the rustling noise very offputting and some butted their lambs away.
