Hi thought I should intro as Ive been lurking!
I live on a 40 acre smallholding on the edge of the Cairngorms. Lots of snow, 3 months solid last winter...
We have 2 horses :horse:, 27 sheep :sheep: and 1 ram, 5 geese :&>, about 9 hens :chook: and 2 dog :dog:s.
We had a short lived foray into cows :cow:but that was too much challenge so are sticking to slightly smaller beesties apart from the horses! :hshoe:

Hi, I used to live near Old Rayne, half way between inverurie and Huntly, now down her in the Central belt - downsized from 21 to 1 acre unfortunately. welcome to the forum, don't have so much snow down here thank goodness, although this last winter was severe.

Hello!! I have been looking at properties up in Aberdeenshire. Seen some I like the look of, but the thought of moving my menagerie all that way .....would need a couple of overnight stops, and then some may not get on the wagon again, or escape!!

Hi Roxy well we moved all the way from the Home Counties so it was 550 miles odd.....Horse came by specialised transporter. Chickens came up in the landrover with OH and the dogs came by car! They all coped much better than the humans to be honest....
So dont let the one off journey put you off, its very civilised up here, bit like the Home Counties might have been once!

Hello and welcome from east Aberdeenshire - our move was only from Perthshire, 3 years ago with 3 dogs, 3 cats, 2 birds of prey, a cockerel and his lady friend but I've added goats, ducks and sheep - we're on a very small 5 acres, you must have big plans for your 40 - good luck - I've found this a great place for friendly advice and met some great people (some in real life too!!!!) Clare

I should say that some of the 40 acres is what Europe would probably describe as 'very poor disadvantaged marginal exposed miserableness' :-))
