Title: valais blacknose

Hi all, I have a small herd of valais blacknose who are constantly getting mud trapped between their 'toes' I clean regularly and am concious of not 'over trimming' hooves. Apart from moving them is there anything I can do to improve resiliance? I have considered walking them through a dip daily to clear mud trap, is this a good idea?

Do they have a tuft of wool growing between their clees?  If so,  trim it out.  Mud between the clees is generally a problem if they tuck a muddy foot under them whilst resting at night and the mud dries hard.  This is worse on big sheep with wide spread clees and can lead to shelly hoof as it pushes out  the horn layer and when soft the space gets packed with mud.

Is the mud causing them problems?
