Title: Wanted Greyface Dartmoor ewes with lamb at foot.

 Hello

I'm interested in buying some grey faced Dartmoor's, looking to buy 1 or 2 ewes with lamb at foot to add to what will be a small mixed flock. I'm based in Norfolk and Ideally looking to buy in the east anglia region. Does anyone out there have any for sale?

If you're new to sheep keeping I suggest you start by reading the Sheep Book for Smallholders by Tim Tyne.  Sheep breeding generally keeps pace with the seasons:  the ewes come into season as the days shorten in Autumn, which means that 21 weeks later their lambs are born to coincide with the fresh grass growth of Spring to support the ewe producing milk for the lambs.  A few breeds will breed out of season but the GFD isn't one of them.

Thank you for your quick replies, I don't think I made my self very clear in my post. I'm well aware that lambs are born in spring but as I am already in conversation with another farmer about buying some of their ewes with lamb at foot this coming April I thought this would be the case with other farmers.
