Title: New to Pigs - SaddleBacks
Post by: TJ on November 30, 2007, 05:49:58 pm
Opps Sorry didn't see this introduction page.. We have a 42 acre smallholding in Mid Wales. My wife breeds Blue Texel sheep and Texels. My interest in pigs started in my teens, but it was only this year I decided to get a few pigs again. I went for the saddlebacks as a friend has some and I liked their nature very much. We just slaughtered the first two and they are in the freezer now. I have just bought three little pigs (as the kids love to sing). Two will be for breeding and one for meat. I have forgotten more than I learnt about pigs so I will be looking for a course and help from this forum.

Regards TJ

Hi welcome, saddlebacks are becoming sought after over here too.  We have one (unregistered) Daisy.  She's a real pet.

Our Saddleback Laura is a lovely mum but is quite adept at biting bums!! Lesson learned - never turn your back on a pig, at least her anyway!!
