Title: Bantam Eggs, 18 or 21 days
Post by: Pony-n-trap on July 31, 2010, 12:24:21 pm
My first lot of Banty eggs hatched at spot on 21 days, 2nd lot 18,19 and 20 days.

Have got another 15 in incubator on 17days, I know you are supposed to turn the turner off 3 days before but, well, what if its too soon??

Will turn it off and wait...........

I'm new to this incubator stuff - I've turned the cradle off in mine - duck eggs due to hatch on 3rd - but why do you stop turning at that point?

Assume so they can get into birthing position..... and of course save wee bit electric
Hope you have as much luck as James, incubator is great but not a patch on mum.

If they are due to hatch on the 3rd when would I expect to see the first signs if they are alive?

My banty eggs seem to have a little rattle around a bit then pip.  My ducks eggs took me by suprise, no movement, just pipped, I didnt think they were going to hatch.

This lot are having an occasional move but no pipping yet, have heard a cheep so hopefully they will start soon.

Yes, have taken pics - off out with dogs, will post later.  They are really for a friend who is on holiday and will be taking them away, but it is very tempting to ask for one one back if there are females.  you can't tell this young can you?
