Title: Family portrait
Post by: CameronS on July 30, 2010, 01:15:09 am
here is a pic of my Pekin male with his two girls and "his" babies.

One of the grey birds hatched 6 and now her sister and the cockerel share the load of looking after the babies ---- even caught ChookChook with chicks sat under him

That's lovely !  This is the first year we have had our hens with new chicks free ranging from a few days old and we were surprised that the cockerels, like yours, have joined in their care, finding juicy tidbits for the chicks just like they do for their favourite hens.   Ah  8)  I had expected them to attack them !

Aw....how sweet.  I have two Pekin boys (les and Mike) and they are right little characters, so friendly!!  Will try and find a pic of one of them (no need for both, they are identical)
