Title: oops she did it again - i think...
Post by: plumseverywhere on July 29, 2010, 10:22:27 am
my half siamese and her 12 week old son were booked into the vets for 'the op' on tuesday but my lovely 5 year old, India, let mummy cat (very much in season) out that morning as she "couldtn' bear the meowing"...so after 2 hours of searching we had to tell the vet that mummy cat had done a runner.
she returned several hours later, no meowing and no longer doing all the things a cat in season does. she has another appt for next wednesday (so 8 days after she has probably been up to no good.)

I think I know the answer but...a)do you think she's pregnant again and b) what will the vet do? have I another litter due 8 weeks from now?

am so cross because we had her locked in all night!!!

a)Yes
b)Speak to your vet today!

I don't think they are keen on spaying when there is a possible litter in there.  They may do it quicker before embryos start to form.  But next week may be soon enough.

Thats the siamese in her, they are such tarts. Ours got out the bathroom window and ran down all the neighbours gardens spraying their back doors. we managed to catch her before any tom cat did but she did a lot of swearing when I shut her in a pen.  :cat:

I have a feeling they will not do a cat in season, so you may have to wait a week or so until she is definitely not.  But even if she is in kitten, they willspey her.  One of my farm cats had kittens, we weaned them and booked her in.  This was probably 12 weeks after the kittens were born.  Vets office rang to ask  if we wanted the op to go ahead, as she was in kitten again.  I said yes, take them away, she cannot be very far gone surely .....so they did.  Had the birth been iminent, my answer would have been - no wait.

ooh she is a total hussey - even the poor chickens hide when they see her coming at the moment!!

well, vet has said she will still be spayed on wednesday.  being spayed in season apparantly is fine as they expect her to be in the same 'condition' for the next couple of months anyway - may to september I think she said.  also she is probalby in kitten but that is fine too they 'remove the whole lot' - which I am NOT comfortable with but as hubby said another litter so soon could be bad for her health too.  :(
