Title: Broken leg
Post by: Daisys Mum on July 26, 2010, 10:51:51 am

Went out this morning to find a lamb with a broken leg, called my vets who said bring in straight away so we are now home with 1 lamb in plaster. The break is in a hind leg between fetlock and hock, it seems to be a clean break but unfortunately the skin is broken, so just a question of waiting to see if infection sets in, hopefully not.

was this a pet or farm animal. an open fracture is going to go manky. how can they plaster over an open wound. this really sounds odd. how are you going to clean it

Shetlandpaul this is a farm animal, hopefully have been thoroughly cleaned and given antibiotics  it will be ok. Vet is a farm vet and seems pretty confident, obviously he would have been happier if no wound but it is not a pet so given best chance a farm animal would get.
