Potatoes should be cooked as pigs are as you know very greedy things and will scoff any thing in the trough and out come to that They have been known to choke on potato The old way was boil them in a copper down the garden and at feeding times get a scoop of them and the water they were boiled in and mash them then mix in their barley meal put it in the trough and add a pail of water Prorate for their size of course a 10 week old doesn't need as much as one thats ready to kill next week :D :farmer:

Fruit would be fine, personally I dont feed raw potatoes, and mine for the most part would not eat them if I did.   Cooked potatoes are easier to digest, the pigs are able to get more goodness out of them than if they are raw.  I am trying to say for such young piglets I would not feed raw potatoes, but cooked would be fine.

as a rule i always cooked any veg for the pigs (they seemed to enjoy it more) apart from brocolli which they loved raw??? fruit on the other hand i just threw in and bananas were the favourite, they went mad for them! in fact they used to queue in a line and i would hand feed them

My girls go mad for bananas and pears. Not so keen on raw veg but like it cooked.

We are able to utilise waste from a veg. factory and find ours far prefer the (defrosted) frozen veg which has been blanched first.

Given the choice they will always have fruit in preference to veg.

If any of you come near Heathrow, you can pick up hundreds of overripe bananas from the back of Western International. We mash them and put them in the freezer, had over 400 last time. Have had hundred of freshly cut cucumbers from a grower nearby, too, a nice refreshing snack in the hot weather.

My pigs have munched their way through around 1000 bananas this summer alone :P They get all the food they need in pellets and then lots of raw fruit and veg on top. They like raw potatoes but only fresh ones, not the old wrinkly ones of which I have a couple of hundred kilo's. Used to cook the potatoes when the piggies were little, but the volume's way too much, now.

I don't dare give them cherries or any stone fruit in case they choke, am I being paranoid?
Though I think one of them nibbles on small stones, by the sounds of it.

Ours love mangoes, in fact one of HIlary's favourite foods is the fruit salad the factory packs.  She is also very keen on vegetable curry, although the venting of the resulting gas is to be avoided.
