Title: Hello all
Post by: Meh! on July 11, 2010, 02:45:37 pm
Hi Everyone
I have just joined today to get tips on how to look after my two wee pet lambs, Claudia and Simba :sheep: :sheep:
I lost a lamb at 7 months last year and couldnt wait to get more this year. Want to build up a wee flock (as pets) saved orphans and all that.....everyone thinks I'm bonkers (and I probably am :D) but love wee sheepy mehs!
I'm seriously thinking of retraining in veterinary or animal health type work however want to gets some experience around farm animals more before making any serious decisions. I'm in West Lothian so if any of you are close by and need a hand...

Would love to help out if anyone needs a hand and learn to do the everyday things looking after sheep and lambing.

My learning topic of this week has been learning to recognise and treat Achey Bones and how to trim hoofs.
All under the guidance of a very helpful Vet who recommended this site to me.

Look forward to chatting to you all!

Hi there from sunny ( very muggy) cornwall. I love sheep and would love to have a couple of orphan lambs , my friend had some to help graze down the horse paddock but they kept getting out and she used to say they were more trouble than they were worth , so that put me off a bit. Anyway all the best in your quest for knowledge and experience , let us know how you get on...

Hi from South Lanarkshire.  I love the meh! - good name  :)  If you fancy a trip a few miles south of you, you are welcome to visit and see how we do things here - Hebridean and Soay sheep, chickens, etc.  How much land do you have for your lambs?

Hi!
I would LOVE to visit sometime. I've bben at the agricultural centre in Lanark which is where I get my feed from and its not far.
I dont have any ground other than my garden but i live on a working farm (cattle) and the farmer lets the kids B&B in his field, which is right next to the house (small development) I would love to rent a couple of acres but not approached that yet.

I had these two lambs since a week old so they are very tame and stay close to the house, however II do worry that they may wander off near the calf feed so I would rather have them in theor own enclosure. I'm very grateful though that I can keep them here at all.!

I'd love to stay in touch and visit to learn from you and see your sheep.
Mine are texel X (with something!!)

I went ot Scotsheep in Stirling this year and loved every minute!
