Post by: smiffy on July 10, 2010, 05:25:37 pm

4 Pedigree Gilts £100 each
3 Pedigree Boars £75.00 each
Boars for meat £50
we are near doncaster

It seems to be common practice these days for people to "book" animals and then "pull out" at the last minute, such a shame.

Friends of mine had an order for a gilt to be got into pig by a certain boar, which they did, waited for months for the payments, finally she had a fine litter of 11, which they birth notified, then the "new owner" decided they couldnt afford them after all, leaving friend with a lot of unwanted pigs.  It happens, dont know what you can do to protect yourself.

Hi HM

we were contacted 3 months ago by someone who wanted to buy a quad of pigs...boar and 3 sows... they asked if they could be put in pig so put all sows in with the boar...we now have 3 litters due very soon...and no further contact from the buyer dispite numerous emails!!! I should have taken a deposit on these prior to turning them in together...but i didnt >:(
i wouldnt haver been offended if they had said they had changed there mind...its the silence that is frustrating :)

Hi HM

I should have taken a deposit on these prior to turning them in together...but i didnt >:(
:)

I agree but how long do you wait until you re-sell if they have given a deposit?  Its so very difficult, thanfully it is a very small minority, and the pig world being as small as it is out here these people soon get a reputation.

Can reccommend these piggies as we have some weaners from Smiffy and they are Mangalitza x Tamworth and are the best piggies we have ever had....in over 24 years!

I too can recommend Smiffy's pigs as I went to her farm and saw them, hence I'm buying some of all her pedigree stock  ;D

Thank you Tracie for posting that it wasnt me who let you down, I appreciate that as I wouldnt want people to think Im not reliable. :)

Jackie personally I didnt think it came across as you being unreliable, and anyone reading your other postings would have realised anyway...  (in case that sounds contentious its not meant to be)

Thank you Hilarysmum,  ;D sometimes the written word doesnt convey intentions as well as the spoken word and I wanted to make sure.

Id love to think that everyone read my posts about NK but that would be quite big headed. lol

haha hm i have never listened to archers....

wooly i keep meaning to contact you...but get sidetracked.
Thankyou
we have just taken the 1st 5 boys in ...and they are lovely... I dont think you will be disapointed when you eat the girls...they are very yummy

I put the tammys to a pedigree boar this time to breed pedigree tamworths...but next time round i think i will put at least one girl back to the red mangie boar, the results are very good!
