Hi there. We have 4 pekin ducks who have all turned out to be male. The other half wants them for dinner now, so I wanted to ask if anyone could advise the best way to dispatch them. He has an air rifle that he shoots pigeons with that taste lovely in a stew. Would that be any good?

i would go with the air rifle, i think it is far more humane than some peoples methods, a quick head shot and it's all over

only if you know where its brain is. its very small. most of the skull is eye structure. google duck anatomny. you aim is to kill cleanly. to be honest the best method is still asharp axe.you still need to bleed the duck even if you kill it with the first shot.

2 pieces 2/2 neck snap thats it
-
i aways end up pulling the head of as im never sure.
-
oooh! You are turning me vegetarian!
-
what about one of those poultry dispatcher things?
-
same thing. i still prefer to be sure. but doing it twice and then a pull seems to work. but still not as quick as the axe. plus you get a lot of blood clots in the neck end. its funnly it drains better with the heart still beating. whatever the way make sure you have a second method incase our first fails.
