Post by: valr on July 07, 2010, 10:51:41 pm
Can anyone recommend a climbing rose that is fast to grow and hardy with lots of blooms?

We have two Blush Noisette outside our front door. They flower from May until November reliably and are beautifully scented. I'll try and get a pic tomorrow. We saw them in Geoff Hamilton's garden in Rutland and fell in love with them. We bought ours from David Austin Roses. We'll be putting some in at Dalmore in due course.

It had a mid pink bud opening to a pale pink flower, which fades to creamy white. It flowers in clusters. Pity we don't have smelli-vision! Pic tonight when Dan's here.

I googled it Rosemary - it does look lovely. I'll see if they have it in any of the garden centres near me... Thanks!

I would reccomend "Zephrine Drouhen" I have it over our our porch and folk stop to smell it from the road. It doesn't need much pruning or attention, just cut back any straggly bits and give it a bit of manure or wood ash in the spring. Also it doesn't have thorns and blooms twice a year.
