-
Been in the garden - weeding!
-
Been working, dreaming of better weather!
-
Chasing chickens ....
-
I've been fed up of getting wet every time I venture outside to do a job.Is it ever going to stop raining long enough to get out and do all those essential jobs that you need to do this time of year.

Hi everyone

Working :( ............ nearley the weekend tho! yay!! ;D

So I go outside again hang out a line full of washing as there is a lovely blue sky and a bit of a breeze, and what happens it sneeks up on me why I'm not looking, of course no coat on only a cardi and I'm soaked again before I can get to the nearest shelter, Talk about the height of summer whats gone wrong. I'll be harvesting may hay in December at this rate and the girls will be costing me a fortune in feed.
-
I've been making a movable run for my chicken girls and moving them in to live my duck girls - only at night as they will have the front garden in the daytime.

I've been chasing small chicks around the garden, we have called one Houdini and one Najinski, one can escape and one can escape and run like the wind. The weather up here in the north east of Scotland has been alot better than the rest of the country. I have been busy strimming weeds and weed killing the area which hopefully next year will be my wild flower meadow. It covers about 350 sq yards, a fair area to strim & weedkill.
We have also had an opportunity for some free fire wood for the winter so we have been on pallet runs at the weekend which took most of Sunday, we still have some more to collect.
I have harvested my potatoes, and we are now eating peas, broad beans and courgettes. My chard is just about finished and this morning I have pulled 2 parsnips for dinner this evening. I have also taken fuschia cuttings for next year, I still have some more to do and have potted all my strawberry runners.
We had some visitors last week for 3 days, some one I had not seen for about 18 years and it was lovely to catch up with him and his new lady. We got stuck talking about family history and tracing it, which next to gardening is my next favourite pastime, so I have been searching into his family history for him. I was hoping to do Genealogy as an occupation when we moved up here, but no takers so far.

You are definately faring better with the weather up there than where we are. My husband decided to fit new door frame to our small cottage that is behind the house, as the frame at the base was completely rotten, August supposedly being the best time to do this. Took door off, that was as rotten as a carrot at base where water had been penetrating through frame (Looks like a cheap softwood door been put on there quite some years ago) and since then has not been able to finish the job because as soon as he is home it rains, and when he is at work its dry. What I need is a fair weather Man.
You must excuse any spelling mistakes as my reading glasses met with an accident so I can't check what I have written down until they are fixed. :)

Well I hate to say this guy's but we have been having lovely weather here in the Indre region in France 8)
We've managed to clear out a lot of undergrowth which has been allowed to grow for about 10 yrs before we moved here :o
In the evenings we've mostly been catching our neighbour's cockerel who we borrowed to see to our girls who have been giving him the run around most of the week :chook:
We've moved the sheep to a nice new lush green area & the pigs are happy as larry basking in the sunshine & grunting contently.
Oh & not forgetting arranging the delivery of our newest member a lovely Tammie sow soon to be in pig :pig:

::) I don't know, don't you just hate some people. I wish we were having some of what you've got there, here.
-
It's been warm and sunny here today - first time for ages. I'm back to work thsi week so that's why.

I just returned from Oxford last night after three days of hell - corporate training and personality assessment (!!!) run by two extremely annoying, silly, squeaky women with no understanding of the NLP they were trying to pop in to the training and a total passion for Myers-Briggs personality 'pigeon-holeing' of people. So I now know I am an 'INTP' (?) and that people ONLY fall in to one of 16 catagories.....oh yes, I have had soooo much fun (can you feel my pain?). My company obviously has more money than sense! The only good thing about the whole experience was that it was set in a beautiful De Veres hotel deep in the country.
I'm off now to get back to reality and deal with some 'intellegent life forms' - my pigs and sheep!!
Oh how I wish I could just cut the strings and leave the 'madness' of the 9-5 behind!
Glad to hear you're all well and busy - I have been checking in with you all, but just no time to post messages.
Be happy! :pig: :sheep: :)

Pebbles, I've just been on your website - what hard times you have had, I feel quite depressed now. Even if you don't have time to do anything else can you put on an update about your sisters and maybe Scooter too if he's still around? I hope the girls are still keeping well after their ops.

Hi Pebbles
Just had to google INTP. Looks like you are in with some pretty good company. Welcome back to (in)sanity
INTPs are relatively easy-going and amenable to almost anything until their principles are violated, about which they may become outspoken and inflexible. They prefer to return, however, to a reserved albeit benign ambiance, not wishing to make spectacles of themselves.
Famous INTPs:
Socrates
Rene Descartes
Blaise Pascal
Sir Isaac Newton
U.S. Presidents:
James Madison
John Quincy Adams
John Tyler
Dwight D. Eisenhower
Gerald Ford
William Harvey (pioneer in human physiology)
C. G. Jung, (Freudian defector, author of Psychological Types, etc.)
William James
Albert Einstein
Tom Foley (Speaker of the House--U.S. House of Representatives)
Henri Mancini
Bob Newhart
Jeff Bingaman, U.S. Senator (D.--NM)
Rick Moranis (Honey, I Shrunk The Kids)
Midori Ito (ice skater, Olympic silver medalist)
Tiger Woods

Thanks Andrew I needed that - glad to hear I'm in with such good company. Unfortunately the company I have been sharing the last few days with were quite the opposite to me and the tiniest mention that I had a life outside of the "Because You're Worth It" company that involved animals, mud and no make-up positively disgusted them!!! ??? Oh well, their loss!!! :P
I've just spent a happy two hours cuddling pigs, getting muddy and talking to sheep - feeling better now! ;D
Hi Annie - don't be depressed :( We went through some really dark times during lambing, but we got through it, as did most of the animals who are now such funny characters and thriving. I am so behind with the 'on-line diary' (sorry) I have over 100 entries nearly finished, sorted in to order, and ready to post all at once. Thanks for asking about my sister - she is back in hospital (3rd time since op) but the kidney has now recovered from two rejections and she is doing pretty well. Scooter sadly and very suddenly died in June. Check the website in a few days and there will be lots to read (good and bad).

Well I've been out today to look at some new boys for my girlies. (If you haven't noticed before Ryelands are my passion). There he was this coloured Ryeland ram lamb what a cutie and so layed back he was unbelivable, then on to the white boy fell in love at first sight, he is off to the Pembrokeshire show this coming week, did we bring them home? Noooooooooooooo :'( have got to wait until next week to see what scrapie group they test at, as all my flock ARR/ARR and they could both test as either Group 1 or 2. What a day. ::) :sheep: :sheep: :sheep:

I think I've got an "amour" for my girls. Hope to get to see him this week, maybe.
I've done the Myers Briggs stuff - I love these kind of things - like the questionnaires in women's magazines (sad). I can't remember what I was. ENTP, I think. Dan was INTJ, he thinks. Our Psychologists described it as ahouse with 16 rooms; you will move between them all, but one will be most comfortable for you.
Glad you're back Pebbles. Will we see you next weekend?
-
Where do you find a list of all these people types - I'd quite like to know what I am - personally, I think I am a Wysiwyg (Wot u see is wot you got) ;) ::) :-[
-
There you go. This test seems pretty close to the one I did. Just click on the link then click the "Do It" button. Enjoy! :-\

i am ISTJ!! i dont agree with it tho!
You are:
distinctively expressed introvert
moderately expressed sensing personality
moderately expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed judging personality
i think im far less introvert much more thinking! never mind! ;D
-
yeah ok , I did it too ....lol
I am an ISTP .....been called lots of things in my life ... didn't know thats how they were spelt though... I didn't agree with mine either , but I did it a few times , it came up exactly the same . There is no way I could remember all the answers I gave each time , as I just read and answer. Due to the car smash I had years ago , I have a very limited short term memory . So there must be something in it I spose....lol...

He he - I just did it too - I'm an ESFP - extraverted sensing feeling perceiving, in other words an interfering busybody who can't keep her opinions to herself - can't argue with that - I know my failings, doubt if I'll change now at 65 though! Good fun, and nice and time wasteful! Just like my puppies - must go and get another eyeful of them.
I just pulled my first crop of "Cupboard" potatoes. They were shoved in a bit of ground beside the fence that was hard as ............... - straight out of the cupboard, no idea what variety but got half a kilo of nice oval white tatties. Should do nicely with the pot of mince getting ready for my visitors tonight. Just goes to prove I'm a sham - not really a smallholder at all, just likew to play at planting things and keeping ducks & chooks.

Unlike Francis B the weather here is bad. Not to worry OH goes back to work on MOnday it will be wonderful from then on.
Been time wasting with HIlary new babies.
-
HM
How many has she had?
Carole
-
After I'd said that we did have some heavy down pours including yesterday morning! But then the sun comes out so....
New babies how exciting, Hope they are all well! sorry to echo but how many & do any look like Hilary?
-
I just took the test and I am 'ISTJ'
moderately expressed introvert
slightly expressed sensing personality
moderately expressed thinking personality
moderately expressed judging personality
Not sure what it all means though.
We had something at work like this last year and I had the mick taken out of me beacuse I arrange my clothes in my drawers and wardrobe on colour co-ordination as well and my shoes and hand bags. It just makes it easier I think to see all your clothes and what colour you want to wear in a morning, depending on my mood.
My mum thinks I'm daft for doing it and so does my sisiter, but when you see my sisters wardrobe I don't know how she finds clothes in amorning to wear.
Anyone else like me or am I unique??
Elaine

Hi Greenfingers,
I had to giggle when I read yours, I too like my clothes to & shoes to be in order in my wardrobe, I agree with you it helps to find things easier - Scary thing is I was ISFJ only one letter differnece from yours - Is there something in it?!?!!!!! :o
Donna
-
My clothes rarely reach the wardrobe! Wash, dry then leave in ironing basket til needed! :-[
Once you've done your 'test' click the link that says "Type Description By D. Keirsey" and you'll get a much better interpretation of your personality and way of approaching things.
All of you doing the test has been an eye opener for me. At my work 'training' (I use that word very loosely!!!) every other manager's result started with an E for Extroverted thinking - I was the only "I" for Introverted - here you all appear to be I's! I felt like the outsider amongst my peers and now I'm obviously among like minded people - maybe there's something in this after all??? :D
-
Glad you're back Pebbles. Will we see you next weekend?
Hi Rosemary
What am I missing this weekend? I am at work all weekend, and next weekend and the next :'( ...in fact I probably shouldn't be doing this right now ;D
Pebbles
-
Annie, how many puppies? Can they have visitors?
HM, how many Hilary babies?
I think the arrangeing of clothes in this was is somewhere on the OCD scale! And I'm right on there! When hanging out washing, I have to have like items together and items of clothes have to be hung in a certain way - I have been known to go out and rearrange washing that Dan's hung out because it's not "right". I also have to rearrange the crockery in the cupboard if anyone else empties the dishwasher and doesn't do it "right". It doesn't keep me awake at night, but I do sleep better if the cups and tumblers are in their appointed places...
-
I know what you mean about the washing, I hate the way Stuart hangs out my undies, I know that sounds daft as there is no one that can see my washing except me. I also hates the way he puts the food shopping away and also the dishwasher. As you say is it OCD or just a woman thing about the way men do the indoor jobs for us??
-
lol maybe smallholders (and those aspiring to be) are just organised people! i spent half the day re-aranging folders of paperwork the OH had organised but not the correct way (my way!) and hate it when he puts clothes away in the wardrobe... it takes me twice as long to sort it all out! ;D
-
I've been enjoying the fantastic weather, though the last couple of days we have had the first rain for 12 weeks. This is giving me time to revisit my favorite forums.
Also been busy on the land getting ready for my sheep, which will arrive by the end of Septmber, starting to layout a new patio now it is a bit cooler and clearing the land for a new project of solar and wind power, if the town council will give us permission some of our land is in the spainish national park and last tlme we asked we were told we could build three walls no door and the roof cannot touch the walls not very good for putting solar panels on or storing batteryś any suggestions?
Rosalie.
