Title: Freezing Yogurt
Post by: smhowie on July 24, 2017, 09:39:04 pm
My wife is sure that you can freeze yogurt to use later in cooking. not that I dont trust her but since I do 90% of the cooking i want to be sure. So is there any special preparation that I would have to do to freeze Yogurt and has any one else done this. many thanks in advance.

I have only done it to make lollies for the kids. We make up a big batch of fresh yoghurt, stir in fruit powder and then freeze in lolly moulds. I don't know what the texture would be like once thawed though

this is what i am concerned about. As my wife is on the slimming world diet it is low fat yogurt from the supermarket we use in curry etc and i am worried about giving her food poisoning.

I don't think food poisoning is an issue if it's frozen, it's just a texture issue

It's safe, but I think  it might curdle a bit if you put it in a hot casserole for example. But stirring should get rid of that, hopefully! Just give it a try :-)
