Title: Wanted: Female weaned kids in Staffordshire Moorlands / Peak District
Post by: wild_thorn on June 29, 2017, 10:41:26 am
Hi,

I am a newbie smallholder and looking to start a little goat herd to fit into our permaculture / biodynamic farming system. I am at a fairly high altitude so a hardy breed is a must and ideally a breed adapted to the type of plants we have here with minimum supplementation needed. I would like to support the reestablishment of a native utility breed such as the old english or english goat. However I am up for discussing other options if someone local has any they are looking to sell and I can come and visit first. We plan to use them for milk and meat.

Happy to travel but obviously would like to minimise distance the goats have to travel. We are hoping to buy two female weaned kids. We will of course need to find a local billy in the future so if you are a goat lover in the area please get in touch!

Thanks for reading!

Hi,

Sorry to jump on the post, sourcing the goats isn't something I can help with but I am also on the look out for similar to yourself, though the hardy types aren't necessary and we're not so high up (just south of Stoke on Trent)

Would you possibly be able to forward details if you find some locally?

Thanks
