Hi all,
I'm after some advice please. One of my ewes, who has a single lamb, has just started limping quite badly on one of her back legs. I've turned her over and her hoof looked fine, a bit dirty but no signs of scald/foot rot, heat etc. I've given it a bit of a clean, trim and spray just in case. She didn't seem to be in any pain when I was feeling around the hoof but she did struggle a bit when I started feeling further up her leg towards her hip. I couldn't feel any swollen joints or heat... any thoughts?
I was thinking about giving her a dose of metacam and see how she goes for the next few days. Is there anything else you would recommend?
Thanks,
Cuddles

Having checked her foot fairly closely, I'd go with the metacam for a few days and see how she gets on.

I agree - you're doing the right thing.
We've had the occasional back leg lameness, and reckon that it's generally been a sprain. Gets gradually better over a few days, and some pain relief wont go amiss!
