Title: keeping birds off lamb creep
Post by: epherdwicks on May 15, 2017, 04:08:13 pm
Does anyone have any bright ideas as to how to stop jackdaws eating my lambs' creep? Anything the lambs can reach the birds can also get at, so I don't know how much the lambs are actually consuming. I'm sure there must be something we can make/rig up to deter the birds...

What sort of creep feeder are you using at the moment?

Two dead uns strung up above the feeder.

Thanks Marches farmer - that's what my husband said!

Currently have a trough suspended at lamb head height, under a human waist-height shelter.  Bit Heath Robinson-ish but best I can manage at the moment.

As Marchers farmer, that normally works but not directly above the feeder, you don’t want maggots dropping into feeder or to attract flies too close to feeding lambs.
