I remember "Plant a tree in 73" Then it went "Plant some more in 74" I and the boys helped Mrs Rowles Nicholson cover a hillside at Horkstow Hundreds we planted. She had a lot of helpers it went on for a good while until they exhausted the supply both years Next time I go to see Jackie I shall make a detour and see what they look like.Horkstow is one of those places that is on the way to nowhere You are going to Horkstow or you don't go its on the Low Road to South Ferriby from Brigg. :D ;D :farmer:

Never mind - it'll grow!  A little bit of TLC works wonders with sticks.  I know - I have hundreds of willows that were just sticks a few months ago! lol

Got mine today woo hoo!

Diane opened the tube as we didn't know what it was and out popped the top of a silver birch. Just like the pretend snakes used to do. It was perfect.

Planted not thirty minutes ago!

At last,,,, my Sots Pine finally arrived and has been planted in a choice spot in my lower field close to a young Beech, it's very small, but I'm sure that it'll thrive and grow well.
Thanks for the tip Linz! I might try and grow some conker trees from nuts for a bit of fun.

hmmm, had e-mail ages ago but still no tree.... hope it's not festering somewhere with Royal Mail!

Jackie, have you scraped away any of the bark?  to see  if there is any sign of life & green?
dormant trees often look dead, even after a good soak...

And  mine - in a hessian bag and very dry - but it is now in a huge pot so hopefully it will survive. Pity I can't remember what I asked for as you can't tell from a leafless twig ;D

I received mine on Friday, wondered what on earth it could be as I had forgotten all about it.  I asked for a Rowan tree, looks quite healthy although very dry.  Have potted it up and will now wait and see.   ;)

I have a feeling mine is a rowan but by no stretch of the imagination could I say it is healthy - how can you tell that a twig with no leaves is healthy? ::)

My twig has arrived too.  After much debate, I have worked out it is a rowan.  My husband kindly  ::) suggested adding it to the kindling pile, which means I will make it grow into a tree even if it kills me!!!!!

I should think mine is dead.  It didn't have time to establish it's root system before the snow and ice came. :'(
