Title: Holding numbers
Post by: susanrich93 on March 14, 2017, 11:21:23 pm
Quick question.
I currently have a holding number for the house we live in.
We are in the process of moving, the new property has had cattle on last year.
My question is do I obtain a new holding number if I want to keep a couple of sheep on it?

CHP - County, Parish, Holding number - so yes you need a new one for your new place. If you were keeping land at your old place you would keep that number for that holding but it sounds as though you are not.

No the number will stay at that property. You should find out if the seller of your new place already has a holding number

I was assuming they WOULD already have a holding number as last year she had cattle on the land. Am I wrong to assume? Do I still need to apply in my name?

Sometimes they seem happy to let you keep a holding number and sometimes they don't. So, just ring up and ask.
