I have a texel ewe that is 3 weeks of lambing she keeps getting stuck on her back ,twice already today!
Any sugeestions welcome or I fear a sad ending

is she outside? It may be worth bringing her closer to the house or indoors, so you can keep a very close eye on her. Any problem ewes we keep in the side garden, near to the house. Is she showing any signs of scratching or wool coming off at all? Generally when sheep do this it can be because they're very itchy?

On flat ground or lumpy ground? If on lumpy then move to flat ground or inside. As WTB says , she may be itchy with lice or mites etc...

Ours sometimes get "beached" against molehills, even the BF's that have long legs they can swing over to one side to give them the impetus to right themselves. We check three times a day, always first light and dusk. They can be on their backs for several hours before gas builds up too much in the rumen but corvids pecking out their eyes is the main worry for us. We had one ewe that managed to cast 9 times before lambing. She was culled after weaning.

Bring inside with a friend or its going to end badly

I had a hogg who was expecting triplets last year ans she got stuck every day at least twice towards the end. I think if you can bring her in and just keep popping out. I didn't cull her, I reckon she'll have more heft this year and be able to get herself upright if it even happens.
It is the peckers you need to watch out for whether close to the house or not.

thanks for the suggestions everyone
she has done it again despite a flat field and having been treated for lice despite no evidence of having them
Another 3 weeks to go if I can keep her upright!

Do you feel as if it's because she's huge? and :fc:

i think she will definitely be having triplets

Cull after weaning.

I have a ewe that gets stuck on her back a few times every year, but she is triplets every year. This year it has only happened once so I think she must be learning!
