Good morning.
Has anyone any suggestions?
I have an old ewe that's not as quick as she once was and when lying down, the crows have found easy pickings for their nest linings. Is there a deterrent I can put on her back as is places they have exposed her skin but not broken it.
Thank you in advance

You could try a 'coat' of some description. Made out of hessian or something else breathable. Even an extra large dog coat.

I've had the same problem with old tups a couple of times in the past. I found Stockholm tar worked but only for about 2 days at a time. However I did notice that it was the same bird each time. so my suggestion would be talk to your local gamekeeper

I'll try the Stockholm tar and meanwhile make some enquiries!

Stone the Crows (metaphorically or course)

What size ewe? Rugs for Shetland ponies go down as small as 3'0" (measured from back of neck to top of tail). One of my neighbours has a mini Shetland and its rain sheet has spent more time on poorly sheep than it has on the pony (who doesn't really need it!)

We put one elderly pet Mule ewe in a calf jacket, which worked well.

Are you sure that its the crows? I had some mules that used to shed just after they'd lambed, their fleece would literally fall away leaving bare skin underneath. The vets thought it was stress and condition related
