ive had a good week went to the dentist for a checkup  ;D he talked to me and i did sign language  :) he tells me he has a passion for chickens and keep quite a few in his field
he offered me a lone of one of his incubators i took him up on the offer and went to our local auction and bought 12 silver sussex and are a light cream colour also 36 black maran bantam eggs these eggs are dark brown
my question is the silver sussex eggs are smallish ? but so are the maran eggs now my farther inlaw has black marans but his eggs are on the large size  are there more than one type of black maran ???? im totaly lost ? help please

Do you stop turning the eggs with ducks too, and how do you stop an incubator that turns them automatically?  Do I have to switch it off?  I have the instructions somewhere but haven't read through them yet as it's only a few days since they were put in.

There should be 2 plugs Annie, 1 to turn the eggs and one to keep the heat. The one that turns the eggs has to be switched off 3 days before due date.

We stopped turning our duck eggs on day 25, every time we chatted to them they would move. Quite an experience and as they are just going to be pets to help me with the slugs in the garden I want them to be tame. :&> ;D
