Post by: Jackie on June 23, 2010, 07:11:38 pm
I have 5 cade lambs that are 8 weeks old now and I have treated them for fly strike and I have bought Hetavac to inject them tomorrow but what else do I need for them? I have the wormer to dose them with once I weight them.

That's I think all I would do, if your land is clean (i.e. did not have any sheep on it for at least a year) and these have come to you before they had been out on grass I doubt that they have worms anyway...

But Heptavac and flystrike will be the most important, that's what mine get.

Blue Tongue vaccine.  There are apparently lots of cattle being brought in from BT areas of Europe and many vets are recommending that all stock is BT vaccinated.  We have done ours anyway as we know what a horrible disease Blue Tongue is, with a high mortality and morbidity rate.  You should be able to get just the number of doses you need from your vet, or you might need to buy a whole 20 dose bottle.
