So with us getting a new working sheepdog we really need a name for her. Any suggestions? Can't sound like ruby at all, as our other dog is named that! ::) Not too poncy or too long, something nice and snappy will do :)

Meg
Fern
Tess
Snow

Did you sort your aggression problems in your other dog? Would hate for your new pup to start to copy, they learn bad habits as quick as good ones!
Just remembered sorry, you sold it because you didn't have time to train it........
Floss?

Whatever you pick, make sure it's still recognisable at full shouting volume, and I'd also google it to make sure it hasn't acquired a modern, interesting, meaning...

Lass
Bess
Daisy
-
Storm
Cloud
Silver
D-fer (D for dog) lol

I do love these names :) I will put them all to the lads to see if they like them.
Thanks guys! :)

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We have decided to called her Rhosin, on her registration certificate that will be, but we have shortened it to Rhos. We tried calling that in Ruby's earshot and even in the same tone we uase for her and no response, so all good! :)

Assume you have time to train this one? Whatever it's called doesn't matter, so long as it a) knows it's name within a couple of days and b) responds to it

Yes I am going to reserve a lot of time for training this one. She is out of very good genetics, so it shouldn't be a problem. Problem with the other one was she needed too much training as she was aggressive towards the animals and I wasn't getting anywhere with her, I also didn't have the time to give her the extensive training that she needed.

You haven't said if your pup is male or female. Also, what kind of characteristics does it have. Sometimes it pays to watch a pup for a while to see how it behaves, and then the name will come to you. (However, if we adhered to that premise, our dogs would be called Pest, Pain and You Bugger!) :dog: :innocent:

Yes, I've just seen it!! "a name for HER" should have been a giveaway! :notworthy:
-
We have named her Rhosyn, welsh for Rose, so perfect for her really :)
-
Lovely name. Let us know how she gets on.
-
Will do :) Here are some pics of her..... I couldn't get them on here so I uploaded them here instead for other friends to see ;D

She's so sweet. Making me want one now.

If you hadn't named her already (eventually found out you had, scrolling through the thread), I was going to suggest "Alf" !! According to Radio 4 today, it is one of the most favorite dog names !!!!! And one could argue it is sort of trans-gender. Anyway, too late! :D Rhosyn is much better.
In passing, went to see my ex's 4 week-old pups today: her doggy-mum and the 4 pups doing extremely well. Apparently, doggy-mum often dumps largest pup away from the others for a while, so it cannot compete with siblings when suckling, OR she takes smallest pup off to a corner and suckles it on its own away from the other three. What a brilliant mum!
However, there is a degree of confusion about whether they are 4 males or 4 females: they sort of look like males with very tufted/hairy "protrusion" on lower part of tummy, BUT we can't discern remnants of umbilical cord. Surely umbilical "scar" would still be very noticeable at 3-4 weeks? If so, then they are probably 4 females!

You (/she) needs to look out for which way the wee comes out ;D

Update ref' posts #20/21: they were all boys and now one of them "Alee" is mine.
Alee not living with me (and my other dog, Keela) yet: he will be the hold-over pup, i.e. the last to leave his doggie mum & dad. But I reckon that will be OK.
He seems to be quite attached to "us" already; he shadows Keela whenever we visit his human carers and ...
"D, would you rescue me please - Alee has gone to sleep on my feet again, but I really need to be going".
Plus he will see his doggie mum & dad frequently, undoubtedly with resumption of their usual playful pack-mayhem.
-
Whatever gender one is/has, there is no defense for puppy cuteness! To round-off on prev' posts, here's the boy Alee: terror that he is, he's melted quite a few hearts already (inc. mine of course).

Just beautiful
Rhosyn is really big now, she is already rounding up the pet lambs by herself and takes great interest in the sheep/buffalo, although still needs training around them...
